Sonics history starts in 1990: SEGA needed a character to symbolize the company,
so they came up with different animals and names, sonic was almost a dog but they thought they
would turn it into a super fast blue hedgehog which we all know as Sonic The Hedgehog. They then made Sonic
The Hedgehog for the Master System and an identical version for the Game Gear, the game sold well so later on
a few months later it hit the Mega Drive a 16-Bit console, this was
Sonics big debut. The mega-drive was competing against the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System). The SNES mascot was Mario. So over the years they brought games out for the Mega-Drive, Master System and Game Gear.
(Sonic The Fighters) but got Cancelled at the last minute. Sonic Jam was released in 1997
and this was a collection of the classic Mega-Drive games and also included a Sonic 3D adventure game.
There were also other Sonic Team games avalible for the Saturn like Burning Rangers and Nights.
Moving on to 1998-1999, the lanch of a new SEGA console.
Sonic is the main character, and he is the one who started the whole series! Sonic is the worlds
fastest hedgehog, and he fights for what is right. With the ability to go Super, Sonic has thwarted many
of Dr. Egg man's plans.
